NS class 5/600 shunter:

Immediately after World War II, the end of the steam era was in sight in The Netherlands. For the shunting jobs NS was attracted to a diesel locomotive which was developed for the English Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS). After borrowing and hiring of ex WD locomotives NS ordered new built shunting locomotives. They were classified as series NS 500-600-700.

This diesel locomotives were deployed throughout The Netherlands.

Model:

The model will be built in the famous Philotrain quality, entirely out of brass, fine scale wheels, sprunged buffers, screw couplers, preparation for digital and sound, etc.

Because of the many variations at the prototype and the limited number of models to be produced (approx. 40 units) we need to make a limitation to the different versions. Therefore we will not produce the model series NS 501-522 and NS 701-715 because of the many differences in their canopies. Because of the small size of the production series (only 40 units) we have to limit ourselves to the NS Series 523-545 and 601-621 with narrow buffer beam and the NS Series 622-665 with wide buffer beam. By this choice we can still create a wide selection from the period these locomotives were in service: the original green version without band, the version with yellow band, the yellow/grey version, blue and red beacon lights, etc.

Digital with or without sound. Prices are being published at a later stage.

With this popular shunter "Bakkie" We hope to complete the series of diesel locomotives with the NS 100, NS 200-300, NS 2200-2300 and NS 2400-2500 in 0-gauge.

NTM history for models in H0 and 0-gauge:

Already in the early eighties of the last century 'HO' models of the NTM were produced by Philotrain. The Large Henschel 29-50, coaches BC 38-72, coupler cars K13-17, goods wagons from the E-series and open freight cars G 1-25. It's almost thirty years ago that Philotrain started to produce ‘0’-gauge models in scale 1:43.5. The NTM Large Henschel 29-50 was the first ‘0’-gauge model produced by Philotrain in 1987. After that freight cars from K, G, and E series, coaches BC 38-72 and BC 73-78 followed. The Small Henschel is a must-have and will be produced in the first half of the year 2016 in collaboration with the firm Phildie.

NTM Small Henschel 1-28 in ‘0’-gauge:

The plans for this model were on the shelf for years and also years ago the first steps for the development of this model were taken. After all these years of preparation the production of this characteristic NTM loc will start. Thanks to the data collected from the mouths and writings of the late J.J. Tiedema and J.J. Buikstra, we have a solid basis to build a historically correct series of models.

In total there will be built 24 numbered models in cooperation with the firm Phildie from Kampen. The drive unit with Faulhaber motor is specially developed for this model and built by the German firm Munz.

‘HO’ gauge

NS 4700 – steamlocomotive (available)

In 2014 Philotrain did produce a very interesting model of a steamlocomotive. The series NS 4700 was already ordered in Sweden during WW II. Early in 1942 there were contacts between the Dutch government (in London) and the factory Nydqvist & Holm Aktienbolag (NOHAB), Trollhättan, Sweden.

Immediately after the end of WW II, a total amount of 35 pcs. of these modern locomotives were delivered to the Dutch State Railways (NS), in order to be able to realize a fast recovery of the Dutch rail way system. The locomotives were in service till the end of the era of steamlocomotives in 1958.

Also this ‘HO’ model has been produced in the well known Philotrain quality, all brass, sprunged buffers, etc.
